Stainless steel faucets have a high surface finish and are prone to residual scale and soap stains after long-term use, which can affect their appearance and service life. Regular cleaning and maintenance can extend the product's lifespan and maintain its metallic luster. Prepare soft cotton cloth, neutral detergent, white vinegar or lemon juice, olive oil, rubber gloves and other tools before operation.
Neutral cleaning agents are mainly used for daily cleaning to avoid surface corrosion caused by strong acids and alkalis. Spray an appropriate amount of cleaning agent onto a damp soft cloth, gently wipe along the texture direction of the faucet, and focus on the water outlet and handle connection. Stubborn scale can be rubbed with lemon slices dipped in salt. Acidic substances dissolve calcium carbonate deposits, and salt particles increase friction. After processing, rinse with clean water and wipe with a dry cloth to avoid water stains.
Weekly deep maintenance requires removal of coating oxide film. Mix white vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:3, wet non-woven fabric and apply it to the surface of the faucet, let it stand for 15 minutes to soften the scale. Use an old toothbrush to clean the threaded gaps, be careful not to use metal brushes. When foggy patches appear on the chrome plating layer, take a small amount of toothpaste and use fish scale cloth to rotate and polish to restore the mirror effect. After processing, apply olive oil to form a protective film and delay the oxidation process.
Seasonal maintenance requires checking the internal structure. Close the main valve and drain the stored water. Remove the aerator and soak it in citric acid solution for 2 hours to remove impurities from the filter screen. If there is leakage at the valve core, a special wrench should be used to replace the sealing ring, and a cotton cloth should be used to prevent tool scratches during operation. Slowly open the valve after reinstallation and test the water flow stability.
Emergency situations need to be handled on a case by case basis. The appearance of rainbow patterns on the surface is caused by hard water deposition. Use suede dipped in baking soda paste to spiral wipe. Rust spots can be ground into powder using vitamin C tablets, mixed with glycerol to make a paste that covers the rust for 20 minutes. The peeling of the coating needs to be repaired with a specialized touch up pen. Before construction, clean the base surface with alcohol, and thin coating with multiple layers will achieve better results.
The material properties determine maintenance taboos. Do not use hard cleaning tools such as steel wire balls and scouring pads to avoid scratches. Chlorine containing cleaning agents such as toilet cleaner and bleach can damage the metal crystal structure and cause localized corrosion. High temperature steam cleaning can easily cause aging of the sealing gasket. It is recommended to control the temperature below 60 ℃. In cold regions during winter, it is necessary to drain the pipeline to prevent freezing, expansion, and damage to the valve body.
The installation environment affects the frequency of maintenance. It is recommended to use citric acid solution for monthly cyclic cleaning in hard water areas, and wipe with a dry cloth every week to prevent moisture in humid environments in the south. Newly installed faucets need to be drained for 5 minutes to remove impurities from the pipes during their first use. Wipe off surface water stains promptly after daily use to avoid mineral deposition. Apply car wax for protection before long-term outings to isolate air oxidation.
Professional maintenance tools improve efficiency. Nano sponge is suitable for handling fine scratches and maintains unidirectional movement when wiping. 3M Sigao cloth has strong water absorption and better polishing effect than ordinary cotton cloth. Soft water machines can be installed in areas with hard water quality to reduce scale formation from the source. When serious damage occurs, contact the manufacturer's after-sales service and provide the product number to obtain original accessories.
Proper operation prolongs the service life. When rotating the handle, the force should be moderate, and the single handle mixing valve should avoid rapid adjustment of water temperature. If the water outlet becomes smaller, clean the aerator in a timely manner to prevent blockage and affect water pressure. Check the sealing of the diagonal valve annually and replace the aging inlet hose. Retain the purchase voucher during the product warranty period and enjoy free repair services.
